Linuxカーネルにおいて、x86/vmscapeの条件付きIBPB緩和策が追加されました。VMSCAPEは、ゲストとユーザースペースのハイパーバイザ間の分岐予測器の分離が不十分であることによる脆弱性です。既存の緩和策は悪意のあるゲストからカーネルやKVMを保護しますが、ユーザースペースはVMexit後に分岐予測器をフラッシュすることで追加的に保護されます。VMexit後かつユーザースペースに戻る前に条件付きでIBPBが発行されるため、ハイパーバイザとユーザースペース間で頻繁に切り替わるワークロードではこのIBPBによるオーバーヘッドが大きくなります。新しいIBPBは既存のIBPB箇所と統合されておらず、例えばコンテキストスイッチ時にIBPBが重複して発行されることがあります。将来的にこれらのケースは統合および最適化される予定です。
